Irene Weakens But Is On Track.

Hurricane Irene made landfall this morning at the Outer Banks of North Carolina and has continued its march up the East Coast.

A dry slot has worked into the storm causing the eye to erode and the storm to weaken to a Category 1. However, you should continue to prepare for a serious event.

Even has a Tropical Storm, 40-50 mph sustained winds over a period of 5 to 6 hours will do significant damage to our area and cause many trees to come down resulting in power loss.

Rain started in Danbury at 8:37 am. It will increase in intensity for the rest of the day, expect tropical force winds (20-40 mph) to arrive by this evening.

By the way, there are no "D" size batteries in a 500 mile radius..
